Entry Categories and Criteria

There are two broad sections: telecommunications and people. Under each of these the awards can either be voted on by TUANZ members (V) or judged by a panel (J).

Voted awards (V) — Nominations for these categories are invited. Anyone can simply complete the appropriate online form. TUANZ will then provide eligible members with a summary of nominations and an online voting form. Members will rate the carrier(s), ISP(s) and media they read/watch on:

·         Innovation
·         Quality of customer service/ quality of news
·         Value for money
·         Technical quality (ISP and carrier awards only)

Judged awards (J) — Finalists in the judged award categories (excluding Journalist of the Year) must be available to present their entries to a judging panel (in person) in Auckland on Wednesday 27 or Thursday 28 August. All finalists will be judged on these two days.

IMPORTANT — As the initial judging to identify a short list is based on your online entry, your ability to present your award entry and articulate its value to society succinctly and precisely has great impact on our judges’ ability to judge it. Be sure to read through the criteria carefully as well as our list of important points.
