What we’ve done
Over the past 20 years, TUANZ has lobbied and agitated to achieve positive change on behalf of telecommunications users.  TUANZ has campaigned and supported and played a big part in the introduction of internationally-orthodox regulation and policy which has paved the way for the more open and competitive environment we now see.

What we offer

• Advocacy - there's no doubt that the TUANZ voice is heard.  We've been instrumental is pushing the government to an investment in fibre totalling a $1.8bn spend across urban and rural infrastructure. 
• Competitive advantage: Knowledge, information and understanding is the key to success.  TUANZ provides its member organisations with a hotline to the telecommunications industry - reporting regularly, often daily, on movements in the market place particularly as the national infrastructure and its delivery is unveiled.  
• International connections: APEC Telecommunications and Information Working Group (APECTel); the International Telecommunications Users Group (INTUG), the European Competitive Telecommunications Association (ECTA) and the Australian Telecommunications Users Group (ATUG). We also interact regularly with the OECD and other influential world bodies.
• Member Interaction: TUANZ aims to be an invaluable source of information and advice to our members with a lively flow of information through our website, blogs, reports and special publications. The TUANZ blogs provide up-to-minute updates and practical advice on critical issues, while periodic special reports offer more in-depth insights.
• Professional Development - all our events give members the opportunity to learn about new developments in ICT.  This is open to all your employees.

2010-2011 Opportunities

Here’s a quick snapshot of programmes we’re currently running that will benefit you:

• Mobile Termination Rates.  TUANZ has been advocating for regulation in MTR rates for sometime.  The Commerce Commission has now recommended regulation to the Telecommunications Minister, submissions have closed and we wait with bated breath.
• Termination Rates into Freephone numbers: Currently accepting mobile calls into your freephone number?  What’s it costing you?  TUANZ are delving into the true costs and how organisations are dealing with it.  As a member you too can be involved.
• International Roaming Charges.  International regulation is required. Data charges are exceptionally high and everyone has a bill shock story, what’s yours?
• Ultra Fast Broadband roll out.  Who, where, when.  Stay tuned, a new event coming your way soon.
• The Future of Health – Enabled by Information: The National Health IT Board in partnership with TUANZ is holding a series of community workshops around the country.
• XT Review. As the user voice TUANZ had a seat at the table with Analyses Mason as it conducted the review.
