This prestigious annual awards ceremony recognises outstanding innovation within the telecommunications arena in New Zealand.

Finalist Event For the first time the finalists of this year's prestigious judged TUANZ Innovation Awards will be announced at a cocktail event on Wednesday 23 June.
Awards Ceremony The winners of this year's 14 prestigious TUANZ Innovation Awards will be announced at a black-tie dinner on Thursday 2 September.

Award categories and criteria ENTRIES ARE NOW CLOSED

Voted Awards (V)
Nominations for these categories are invited. Simply complete the appropriate online form. TUANZ will then provide eligible members with a summary of nominations and an online voting form. Members will rate carriers, ISPs and media on:
- Innovation - Quality of customer service/quality of news - Value for money - Technical quality (ISP and carrier awards only)
Judged Awards (J)
Finalists in the judged award categories (excluding Journalist of the Year) must be available to present their entries to a judging panel (in person) in Auckland on Wednesday 1 September and Thursday 2 September. All finalists will be judged on these two days.
Important As the initial judging to identify a short list is based on your online entry, your ability to present your award entry and articulate its value to society succinctly and precisley has great impact on our judges' abilities to assess it.

Telecommunications
1> TUANZ Initiative of the Year 2010 (J) Sponsored by Voco
For a product, service or application facilitated or enabled by the innovative use of technology in New Zealand, or by a New Zealand company overseas.
2> TUANZ Telecommunications Carrier of the Year 2010 (V) Sponsored by Telecommunications Carriers' Forum
For the users' choice of telecommunications carrier (fixed or mobile) in 2010. The users' assessment of the quality of service they receive from their carrier.
3> TUANZ Internet Service Provider (ISP) of the Year 2010 (V) Sponsored by Telecom Wholesale
For the users' choice of ISP in 2010. The users' assessment of the quality of service they receive from their ISP.
4> TUANZ Technology Media Award 2010 (V) Sponsored by Kordia
For ther users' choice of New Zealand telecommunications publication, regular newspaper feature section, broadcast programme, or blog site of the year late 2009 early 2010.
5> TUANZ Mobile Application of the Year 2010 (J) Sponsored by Motorola
For the best example of an innovative mobile application in New Zealand or by a New Zealand company overseas.
6> TUANZ Education Award 2010 (J) Sponsored by Aurecon
For the most innovative education or training product, service or initiative developed in New Zealand, and delivered electronically to New Zealanders, which contributes to general education (applicable to whole life learning, e.g business, community, primary, secondary, tertiary, etc).
7> TUANZ Healthcare Award 2010 (J)
For the most innovative healthcare product, service or initiative developed in New Zealand, and delivered electronically to New Zealanders, which contributes to improved healthcare.
8> TUANZ Rural Award 2010 (J)
For the most innovative rural product, service or initiative developed in New Zealand, and delivered electronically to New Zealanders, which enhances productivity in the rural sector, whether it be agribusiness, farming, the dairy industry, horticulture or otherwise.
9> TUANZ Local and Central Government Services Award 2010 (J)
For the most innovative local or central government product, service or initiative developed in New Zealand and delivered electronically to New Zealanders, which enhances productivity and access to information.
10> TUANZ Commerce Award 2010 (J)
For the most innovative financial product, service or initiative developed in New Zealand, and delivered electronically to New Zealanders, which enhances the customer's experience.
11> TUANZ Next Generation Fibre-Optic Network Award 2010 (J) Sponsored by Northpower Fibre
For the fibre-optic network project which makes the most significant contribution to moving New Zealand towards next generation fibrebased telecommunications.

People
12> TUANZ Telecommunications Journalist of the Year 2010 (J) Sponsored by 2 degrees
The Journalist of the Year will be selected on their overall contribution to users of telecommunications. TUANZ will engage an independent, recognised media authority to judge the award. Entrants will need to submit a portfolio of three published or broadcast pieces. Each submission will include a 200 word 'resume' justifying its selection.
The resume will outline: - How each story arose - How the story was pursued - The difficulties in putting the piece together
13> TUANZ ICT Innovator of the Year 2010 (J) Sponsored by Kelly
For the person within the team who makes the most significant contribution in the delivery of an innovation solution as a facilitator or from a technical perspective, this person may have worked on the entry for any of the other awards entered.

Overall Award
14> TUANZ Telecommunications Innovation Award 2010 (J) Sponsored by VectorFibre
For the most innovative product, service or initiative overall developed in New Zealand, and delivered electronically to New Zealanders. Nominations/entries are not accepted for this category. All finalists will be eligible for this 'best of best' award. |
Award Rules
1. Entries must be received by 5pm, Monday 31 May 2010, including all final documentation. 2. Finalists will be announced at the Finalist Cocktail Party, Wednesday 23 June 2010. 3. Products and services must have been first available to New Zealand users anytime after 1 March 2009. 4. Entries and nominations can be made by individuals or organisations or on behalf of individuals or organisations. 5. All entries must be submitted online via tuanz.org.nz. 6. Entries should clearly illustrate how they meet the point scoring criteria. 7. Entries must allow for independent audit of the material submitted. 8. Additional information sent via email, post or attachments will only be considered if it has been requested in the specific category notes. 9. All finalists (excluding Journalist of the Year) must be present (in person) to present their work to the judges in Auckland on Wednesday 1 or Thursday 2 September 2010. 10. All non-TUANZ members submitting entries for the Judged Awards must pay an entry fee of $120+gst (except category6). All award entries are free for TUANZ members. 11. The judges' decision is final and judges will not respond to any requests for feedback.
