Judges' comments: The MINDA National database records information on nearly dairy cows in New Zealand. Maintaining this information needs to be simple, farmer friendly and accurate. MINDA provides a full farm solution giving a faster turnaround. Even the scroll bar can be tailored to suit the farmer's fingers.
TUANZ Education Award 2009 - sponsored by Aurecon Kordia for the LENScience programme
Judges' comments: An educationally sound model using tried technology to solve a modern problem. The technology brings schools and scientists together with an internet channel for class feedback. Satellite delivery is used for the vision. In excess of 100 schools benefit from lifting the educational bar.

Judges' comments: A virtual contact centre staffed by registered nurses targeting children under five years old and operating 24/7. A technical and innovative solution provided at low cost.
TUANZ Rural Award 2009 – sponsored by Kordia Livestock Improvement Corporation for MINDA
Judges' comments: Nearly 8000 diary farmers use LIC’s MINDA desktop software to record their animal information and send to the LIC national database. MINDA Mobile allows them to gather data for this out on the farm, removing the need to re-enter this from paper notebooks. It provides portability of herd information anywhere on the farm at the farmer's fingertips.

Judges' comments: Voice enabled technology has allowed a unique solution into dealing with significant personal issues in a way that enables callers to speak naturally with a minimum of questions, reducing waiting and dropped calls.
TUANZ Commerce Award 2009 PocketSmith for its web-based calendar for finances
Judges' comments: PocketSmith is a money calendar. Complex financial tasks are made simple by allowing users to see their budget in a relevant and understandable form. A first on the forecasting budgeting tools.
TUANZ Next Generation Fibre-Optic Network Award 2009 NorthPower
Judges' comments: A next generation fibre optic network that utilises a passive optical network to deliver layer 1 and 2 infrastructure to a wide range of customers from residential, SMEs and large corporates.
TUANZ Telecommunications Journalist of the Year Award 2009 – sponsored by Two Degrees Mobile Limited Chris Keall, National Business Review (NBR)
Judges' comments: Telecommunications is an inherently difficult subject to cover. Chris Keall has produced an insight into the telecommunications environment, which is easily readable, up-to-date and industry savvy.
