I’m writing this blog in a near dazed state – not because it is Friday after a four-day week, but because I’m finding it real hard to believe that 2009 is already a month old!
February will be with us before the weekend is out and that means a 12th of the year has already gone by…
But it’s all good, since February marks the start of our After 5s events for 2009.
The After 5s are free to TUANZ members and are held each month from February to November in Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland.
Next month’s sessions are being hosted by Teleware. Richard Adams, general manager of TeleWare New Zealand, will talk about a new offering the company claims can dramatically reduce a business’ mobile spend, regardless of which mobile provider they use.
Registrations are now open for these sessions which are held on the following dates:
February 16 – Christchurch
February 17 – Wellington
February 18 – Hamilton
February 19 – Auckland

Meanwhile, this New Zealand Herald article has caught my attention. It is an interview by Simon Hendery with Robert Hart, the New Zealand and Australia country manager for wireless communications company Qualcomm.
In the article, Hart talks about the role wireless technology can play alongside fibre in improving New Zealand’s broadband infrastructure.
He also shares his insights into how the roll-out of Telecom’s new high-speed W-CDMA mobile network later this year, will impact the mobile market.
In addition, Hart offers his prediction of new technologies may lie just around the corner.
The story is of particular interest to us at TUANZ as Hart is scheduled to present at our After 5s sessions in May, which are hosted by Qualcomm.
While dates and venues for the May sessions are still being finalised, check back on our Events Calendar for details closer to the time.
