NZ's UFB - bring it on!

Kudos to Chris Barton in this morning's NZ Herald.

Yes, we need it.  Yes, the sooner the better. Yes, yes, yes.

I make absolutely no apologies for my evangelism on the subject of UFB.  I’ll happily listen to the feedback I’m given on why you don’t want to share large amounts of data from home or converse with your children (two of whom are in various parts of Europe and the other in the States) simultaneously via video conference from your living room, or how you’ll never ever in a million years speak with your doctor via the same media.

I’ll bet your last dollar that your kids themselves will want to be doing all of this and much more.  And, when those same kids have their children on the other side of the world, sure as eggs you'll want to see them every day and you'll use new technologies to enable that.

As Chris points out, it's the emerging possibilities that are exciting.  Yes some businesses have fibre already, but not all.  And their customers don’t.  Connecting the two is going to make a huge difference to New Zealand.  Bring it on.
