TUANZ Releases Input to Digital Strategy "Refresh" Process

Subscribe To RSSRSS

With the government's "Digital Future Summit" on in Auckland tomorrow and Thursday, TUANZ has released a list of ten high level points to be part of the refresh process. These have originated from several sources - the consultation event we held at Waiheke early this month, our existing policies, and recent debate by our Board.

Click here for the one page summary. A more detailed paper will be prepared after the Summit, having regard to what we learn from that event.

Those who are not attending the Summit have the opportunity to watch it on Second Life or if you're a Wellingtonian, at the Council Chambers - just click the home page and scroll down for details. With around 500 people attending the Summit is going to be a huge success.

Again no mention of Maori and pacific peoples at yet another 'major' It&T conference. Who's going to staff the unbundled sector? Egyptian's? I know who I want to buy cellphones and internet plans off, New Zealander's. Dont rely on Te Puni kokiri to engage, they didnt for the digital strategy and are still not answering the phone on my queries about their $5 million investment in Econet wireless NZ, where's the maori jobs in the ICT sector Mavis Mullins? Ignore us at your peril, you are playing into Telecom's hands.

Fortunately the grass roots involvement is starting to happen - people are just getting out there and doing it for themselves. He Iwi Kotahi Tatou Trust (http://www.heiwi.co.nz/), 155 (http://www.whare.org.nz/) are just a couple of examples. To quote Paul Reynolds (the first rather than the good doctor at Telecom) "Tuhoi rocks".
