For those of you wondering, Ma’as Salaama means goodbye in the version of Arabic spoken in Egypt. Or at least according to the website I just Googled it does. I thought it would be an appropriate way to sign off on the Mouthpiece blog for 2007 because the post about Vodafone outsourcing the pre-pay section of its contact centre to Egypt was one of the top five blogs for 2007.
The metric I’ve chosen to assess blog popularity is the number of comments the post received. Scanning through all 106 posts has been an interesting exercise in learning about what provokes Mouthpiece readers.
I’ve been conducting informal reader surveys all year to ascertain the topics that are of most interest and while I’ve received many useful suggestions my favourite reply came from a Contact Centre manager who told me “I like the controversial ones.”
Of course that is the bloggers dilemma – everyone wants to read a controversial blog but no one wants to be the subject of it.
So here for 2007 are the top five Mouthpiece posts listed in order of the most comments it received:
Is 67 minutes an acceptable wait?
Where were you before the Contact Centre?
India, the Philippines and now Egypt
Is 10 seconds standard for abandonment rates?
Net surfing agents missing calls
Merry Christmas and see you in 2008!
